Sparkles had once belonged to the golemancer Flummox who had sold it to Sareb after the golem was damaged in a fight against jotun raiders and because Flummox was in need of money. Sparkles from Evon Gnashblade's assistant Sareb and heavily modified it.

Zojja became Snaff's apprentice after the latter had parted ways with his previous apprentice, Kudu, who had begun using Snaff's research on the Elder Dragons for unethical purposes. She has taken on a special ward of her own, Taimi, whom she adores very much, mirroring how she and Snaff once were, albeit with Taimi being much younger and thus subject to Zojja's guardian-like behavior. She often has a short temper, especially when Snaff is mentioned. Zojja has taken Snaff's old lab as her own, and can be found there when not out adventuring. Even after Snaff's death in the battle against the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik, Zojja continues to hold a high view of her former mentor, and as such has developed a hatred for the Inquest, specifically Kudu, a former apprentice of Snaff's who has reappropriated his research for evil. She was an extremely skilled apprentice of the famed inventor Snaff and a member of Destiny's Edge each (privately) regarded the other as being a genius, an unusual bond to have between asura. Zojja is a highly respected asuran elementalist, golemancer and a member of the College of Synergetics.
